Fr. Doug was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Divinity. He was baptized at age 30 in the Anglican Church and was ordained an Anglican Priest in 1993. He served Anglican Parishes in Nipigon, Red Rock, Dorian, Thunder Bay, Spruce Grove and Fort McMurray, Alberta.
In 2016, he retired as an Anglican Priest and later that year, was confirmed in the Roman Catholic Church. On January 28, 2023, Fr. Doug was ordained a Catholic Priest into the Diocese of Thunder Bay, after being granted a dispensation from the obligation of clerical celibacy from Pope Francis.

Fr. Doug has been married to Lesley Joy Teresa for 49 years. They have been blessed with three children and three grandchildren. Fr. Doug enjoys hiking, family activities, gardening, tennis, reading spiritual classics, and walking his dog Chima, a seven-and-a-half-year-old Cockapoo. Fr. Doug thanks God every day for leading him out of retirement and back into a full time Ministry in the Catholic Church.
